Institute for Rural Development & Planning (IRDP) was established in 2005 at Kendrapara, Registration of Societies ACT XXI of 1860, No22067/48, with an objective of POVERTY reduction, rural livelihood, conservation of Natural resource, education, Health and infrastructure development in across the state. Institute of Rural Development & Planning (IRDP) started out of the strong will of a group of like-minded young people who are well-established in life and wanted to give something in return to the society. The organization started primarily as a small forum at the grass-roots level. When it got good response from the people it was decided to formally give it a name and seek legal status. Thus this small forum was named as Institute of Rural Development & Planning (IRDP). We are taking steps to get it registered under appropriate acts.

Orissa is a classic case of paradigm of poverty. Despite being endowed with natural resources, skilled manpower, decent infrastructure still Orissa is regarded as one of the poorest states in the entire country. This is a state where almost half of its population lives below the proverbial poverty line. Though several programmes are being implemented to address the poverty issues somehow these programmes have not reached the target groups.

Now, it is felt that civil society organizations have a greater role to play as far as development is concerned. Institute of Rural Development & Planning (IRDP) is trying to contribute its bit in the rural areas.

I am happy to present the Annual Activities Report for the year 2019-20. This report contains in detail the activities of the organization that were undertaken in the last one year.

While presenting this report I take the opportunity to thank all the people and organizations who have contributed for the development of this small organization which hold promise in the future.

I hope all these people and organizations will continue to provide their valuable support in the future.
